A first fishing setup does not need to cost $150. Rod, reel, line, lures, a box for the small stuff and two tools are enough to start fishing a lake, a pond or a pier. These are the seven Temu pieces that sell the most in each category, picked so they fit together, and they also make an easy Christmas gift for someone who has never fished.
Every pick is ranked with two public signals Temu shows on each product: units sold and the average star rating with its number of reviews. We do not invent numbers. Prices were checked on Temu US on October 12, 2026 and can move, so treat them as a guide.

What should be in a beginner fishing kit?
1. PROBEROS Telescopic Fishing Rod (4.9 ft / 5.6 ft)
A fiberglass telescopic rod that collapses small enough for a backpack or a car trunk. Fiberglass is forgiving and hard to break, which is exactly what a beginner needs. It is the most reviewed rod in this kit.

2. BILLINGS EK Spinning Reel (5.2:1, 26 lb drag)
An aluminum spool spinning reel with a 5.2:1 gear ratio and up to 26 lb of drag, listed for both freshwater and saltwater. Spinning reels are the easiest type to learn on, and this one sits at 4.8 stars.

3. Proberos 4-Strand Braided Fishing Line (300 m)
328 yards of PE braided line in strengths from 6 to 80 lb. Braid casts far and does not stretch, so you feel bites sooner. Pick a lighter strength for small fish and a heavier one for bigger water. Nearly 6,000 reviews.

4. Fishing Lure Set with Box (85 to 375 pcs)
A big mixed kit: soft baits, crank baits, spinners, plastic worms, jig hooks and fish hooks, all in a storage box. The price changes with the pack size you choose. For a first kit, this one box replaces buying a dozen separate lures.

5. 10-Compartment Double Sided Tackle Box
A small two-sided box with 10 compartments for hooks, swivels, sinkers and spare lures. It is cheap, light and keeps the small stuff from ending up loose at the bottom of your bag.

6. Stainless Steel Multi-Function Fishing Pliers
Bent nose pliers with a line cutter, split ring opener and lead crimping jaws, with an anti-slip handle. It is the highest rated item in the kit, at 4.9 stars from almost 7,800 reviews.

7. T-Shaped Fish Hook Remover
An aluminum T-handle tool that slips the hook out of a fish’s mouth without your fingers going near it. Beginners tend to skip this and regret it. It has the most reviews of the seven, almost 14,000.

How do the pieces fit together?
The 5.2:1 spinning reel mounts under the rod handle and takes the braided line on its spool. Tie the line to a lure from the set, keep spare hooks and swivels in the tackle box, and use the pliers to cut line and the hook remover to release fish. The rod, reel and line are the three parts that must match: a light line strength (about 10 to 20 lb braid) suits a rod of this size. Spool sizes and rod length vary by listing option, so read the option you pick before paying.
Can you buy a cheaper fishing kit on Temu?
Yes. Temu also sells a $3.94 telescopic travel rod with 100,000+ sold and rod and reel combos around $20. The seven items above are the better pick for a first kit because each one has thousands of reviews at 4.7 stars or higher, and the whole kit is still under $45 before the code.
Are Temu fishing products good quality?
For a beginner kit, yes, with realistic expectations. A telescopic fiberglass rod and a basic spinning reel are not what a tournament angler buys, but they catch fish and cost a fraction of branded gear. Every item here has at least 1,500 reviews and a 4.7 star average, which filters out most bad listings. The pliers and the hook remover are simple tools where the review scores matter most, and those two are rated 4.9 and 4.8. Every item shows a 90 day return window on its product page.
Is the $100 coupon bundle real?
Yes, but here is the honest version: the $100 is not $100 off one order. It is a bundle of smaller coupons you use across several orders, each with its own small minimum and expiry date. The percentage discount, up to 30% off eligible items, is the part that applies to your current cart. Offers vary by account.
When should I order a fishing kit for Christmas?
Temu shows a delivery estimate on every product page. Standard shipping to the USA often takes one to two weeks, and items from local US warehouses usually arrive faster. For Christmas, order by the end of November, and check the delivery estimate on each product before you pay.
Why you can trust this list
Products were pulled from Temu US search results for fishing rods, tackle boxes, fishing gear and lures, sorted by top sales, then checked on each product page on October 12, 2026 for rating, review count and price. We kept the best seller of each category and removed fishing clothing, which sells poorly. Temu is a real marketplace owned by PDD Holdings, listed on Nasdaq, with secure checkout, purchase protection and refunds.
